Meet Michele, Our Founder

Meet Michele, Our Founder
Dear Families,
Â
I founded Riverdale Dunthorpe Learning Center because I loved the early years of raising my four children and experiencing the world through their eyes. Children are naturally curious, imaginative, and eager to discover. At RDLC, I look forward to learning alongside them as we create art, investigate questions, read stories, explore nature, and work together in the garden.
Â
As RDLC’s founder, program director, and an educator, I bring experience in education, the arts, community leadership, and business:
-
I earned a degree in Art from UCLA and have taught art to young learners.
-
I am in my sixth year and second term on the Riverdale School District Board, where I served as chair or vice chair for three and a half years.
-
I serve as an OMSI trustee, supporting curiosity and access to STEAM learning.
-
I am a founding member of the Oregon chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and previously founded and operated a successful clothing brand.
Â
I believe art and science cannot exist without one another. Creative thinking helps children approach problems with imagination, while observation and experimentation help them understand the world. At RDLC, children are encouraged to wonder, create, explore, and develop confidence in their own ideas.
Â
It will be a privilege to share these important early years with your family.
Â
Warmly,
Michele Rosenbaum
Founder, Program Director & Educator

Meet Jessie, Our School Mascot
Jessie is a soon-to-be twelve-year-old soft coated Wheaten Terrier and a beloved pet. Being hypoallergenic, Jessie has her own quiet space within the center and is available to interact with the children when appropriate, providing a gentle and warm presence to our learning environment.

More bios to come. We invite you to learn more about our community and/or schedule an in-person tour.
